On the way from Ella to Udawalawe we made a stop at this temple. Even if you have been to Asia many times and have visited many temples - this Buddhist temple is definitely worth a visit! The name of this temple, Buduruwagala, means something like "the rock with the statue of Buddha". There are 7 figures carved into a large rock. The largest of them, Buddha, is 16m high.
It is a quiet, incredibly beautiful place, where one likes to linger. Some people describe the shape of the whole rock as a kneeling elephant - can you recognize it?
Shortly after we got into the car to continue our journey, another highlight appeared in the middle of the road - a large herd of buffalo.
On this day we have seen significantly more buffalo than tourists 😊
