Ubud Campuhan Ridge Walk, Bali

The Ridge Walk is a short walk from the centre of Ubud along rice fields. The entrance is very easy to find - drive up to the IBAH hotel in the centre of Ubud, turn off the side road right there and you will see signs where the right path leads along. At the entrance to the path, you pass an impressive Hindu temple. Within a very short time, you no longer notice the hustle and bustle of Ubud, but find yourself in the midst of nature.

The path is already quite overgrown in parts - but this is pleasant to enjoy some nice shady spots. On both sides, you have very beautiful views into a partly still very untouched nature (although more and more building is going on here) and then the forest changes into a picture of vast rice fields.

Along the way, apart from a few hotels, there are always restaurants or souvenir shops (especially with very beautiful pictures). All in all, it is a very pleasant path to stroll along and just let yourself drift along without time pressure.

The official path is about 2 km long, but there is no real end, because the road where the path ends can be walked on endlessly and there are still very beautiful views, especially of rice fields. We walked a little further along the path to stop at a great restaurant (described in the restaurant recommendations).

We did not return via the Ridge Walk, but took a parallel road back towards the centre. There was much more traffic there, but we were able to get to know other sides of Ubud.

This street looked like a classic residential area. Small houses and temples alternated and in between you could see many dogs and chickens walking around. What was very special about this street, or rather surprised us, was that we saw a lot of VW cars (old-timers) here in one place - but maybe they were having a car meeting, who knows. 😊

We really enjoyed the Ridge Walk. It was a leisurely stroll and there were good places to stop for refreshments in between. If you can manage your time, I would advise you to do the Ridge Walk either early in the morning or late in the afternoon, as the sun can be very intense over lunchtime. If you do the walk in time for sunset, make sure you take a torch with you as the path is not lit.

Have fun exploring :)
